Shiraz 2004

The signature variety of the Pyrenees. Shiraz offers much to the wine enthusiast. Ripe fruit with spice define nose and palate. Matured in American oak hogshead for 18 months the tannin structure is firm and provides balance. Intense fruit and a rich earthiness reflect the shale and ironstone belt from which it was grown.

James Halliday  “...Deep red purple, medium-bodied but complex array of black fruits and savoury/spicy notes; firm earthy tannins; American oak barely to be seen. Rating: 92….”

 Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Polleters aims to make the best wine from the best fruit grown in the district. True to style, the wine is defined by strong fruit, lifted spicy oak and full fresh fruit characters dominating the mid palate.

James Halliday  “…. Medium purple-red; rich luxuriant blackcurrant and cassis floods the mouth; good oak, plump tannins….Rating: 94…”

Merlot 2004

Grown on the Pyrenees valley of central Victoria, Merlot is looming to become a highlight of the region. With 18 months in American oak hogsheads enjoy the rich, dark tones lifted by sweet plums, ginger and cinnamon that characterize the wine. Firm tannin frame a rich, full-bodied and well-balanced wine that will reward short to medium term cellaring.

James Halliday  “...Deep colour; abundant, rich fruit with touches of dark chocolate; a supple wine, saying much more about the region than the variety...Rating 90…”

Cabernet Franc 2004

Building on the wine of the previous year, this wine is a gem of the Pyrenees. Grown on the lower slopes of Morgan’s Hill, this is a beautifully balanced wine with loads of fruit. Ripe berry fruits and a hint of cinnamon make this a wine to enjoy.

James Halliday “…Good colour; quiet fragrant spice, tobacco and earth all pointing to varietal character…Rating  89…”

Courtney's Choice 2003

A blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. A wine rich in ripe berry characters, stone fruits and plum has been improved with 18 months maturation in American oak hogsheads. With a medium to full palate and lingering after taste it can be enjoyed now or cellared prior to consumption.

James Halliday  “… Retains good hue; has abundant flavour…Rating: 90…”

Merlot 2003

Ben Edwards“Bright garnet in colour the 2003 Polleters Merlot displays vibrant fruits of plum, red berry fruits and a distinctive Pyrenees minerallity. The medium-bodied palate is fresh and lively with nice acidity and soft juicy merlot fruit in abundance. While not a blockbuster, this wine shows very attractive characters and delivers a well-balanced package of fruit, tannin and acid. Enjoy until 2009.”
