Polleters is a small, family-owned vineyard nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees Ranges, 2 km south west of Moonambel, Victoria, Australia.
Polleters is a premium wine producer and was rated 5 stars in the 2009 edition of James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion.
On purchasing the property in 1993, Pauline and Peter Bicknell set about developing a sustainable vineyard. The first vines were planted in the spring of 1994 and presently Polleters has 19 acres under vine. Although the vines have been producing for a number of years, the first bottling under the Polleters label was from the 2001 vintage, using the expert skills of local winemaker, Mark Summerfield.
Polleters grapes are estate grown on the shale and ironstone slopes of the valley. With warm to hot summers and cool evenings in autumn, the growing conditions are ideal. The grapes are hand picked and fermented in small parcels in open vats ensuring optimum quality. They are hand plunged and stored for 18 months in American Oak.
